Well if you are too busy to check out this picture, what are you doing here. I'm sure ofoto would hate to get a 2.5 gigapixel image like this one uploaded to get printed. Anyways, this is another link I got from James Brokaw. The brokaws also leave at the end of December for parts Northeast. Thank goodness its them moving to the cold and tundra. The pic doesn't look real but when you zoom in and check the details its impressive. There is a cool tower in the back and $5 to the person who can find the person riding the bicycle w/ a helmet on in the pic.
added this will give you the complete story behind it all.
nothing like reading and hearing stories of angry shoppers. The day after Thanksgiving is the best time to stay away from stores. Unless you like long lines, short tempers and walking a marathon-type distance from your parking space to the front door. The masses believe that if they wake up at 4am on that friday, that they will beat the odds and save tons of cash in getting their christmas presents at the crack of dawn. Then there are those stupid people who believe that this day is the only day they will get bargains for useless stuff to clutter the house.
No thank you says I. This year I was content to chill at home. People in a toys r' us in New York got subjected to a paperspraying incident. Only because the consumers once again get outta hand. I'll soon be a parent (no the twins haven't come yet) and I cringe thinking of having to defend my kids from "normal" people turn crazy when they enter shopping mode. And I don't want to even imagine what the Pinellas Park Wal-mart was like this year.
Happy Thanksgiving to all, and the boys still aren't here. Which is good, because today we are only 36 weeks along (outta 40 if you don't know) Once again hey to all my friends out there. I'm thankful I know you all and thankful that there is pro football and basketball on tv today.
I'm more thankful to still be alive and have my family near me. The holiday season is near so more downBridge works are coming!
Among all the great sports action this weekend, the most exciting and unusual had to be the big fight between the Pacers, Pistons and the fans. David Stern, commisioner of the NBA, laid down some serious fines for those involved but I think the fans in the arena are partially to blame.
Now I've never been able to afford floor level tickets at any basketball game because these tickets are mad expensive. But it is really sad that some of those ticket holders were the ones down there throwing sodas and objects at players. I love basketball, because a fan can really get close to the action. Arena football is the only sport i can think off where the crowd could get close to players also because the players sit right in the bleachers also.
I would really hate to see hockey type barricades on basketball courts. Imagine how crappy that would be, but when the violence at sporting events in america is compared to tragic riots at sporting events from around the world. Then maybe its getting too outta hand.
thanks to james for this link. Its a series of photos showing a funny event that happened when a crane was called in to fish a car outta the river.
This is messed up. Its always weird, a little bit cool, to see places you go to or have been too on the news. Down the road from us is where this happened. Lately we've been going to the target there for baby stuff and we've been in that radio shack store. So to hear some random, crazy act of violence took place there is really scary.
I'm pretty sure its a fake report, but it had me laughing this morning. I love Pixar films, their animation style is pretty top notch. W/ the boys coming soon, I'll be waiting patiently for the day when The Incredibles comes to DVD. Yep, thats my dream job, besides being my own boss, working for the likes of Pixar. They need me!
How good is the advertising staff at ABC these days. Contreversy and a bit of public outrage has once again worked in their favor. On Monday Night Football they made a skit w/ Terrell Owens and Nicollette Sheridan from their hot show Desperate Housewives. She used to be a playboy model, or something, anyways in the commercial she gets naked and jumps into Terrell's arms. Now you don't see anything graphic, but if you've already watched the show on sundays then its nothing new. I am big into advertising and I knew it was ABC using monday night football as an avenue to get more viewers for DH.
But as usual of late, somebody or maybe even a group has become outraged by this skit. This works even better for ABC, Desperate Housewives, and Terrell Owens. The skit would normally only been shown once before the game. But the media, being suckers as they are, have been playing this clip over and over again since Tuesday. So for those complaining about the skit being shown during primetime, their kids can now watch it all day long on the news. ESPN was showing it like every 15 minutes it seemed. The clip can easily be found to download by simply googling it.
Today on the way to work, I was listening to how everybody is dropping their opinion on this thing. Tony Dungy, former great coach for the Buccaneers, added his two cents worth. He says the skit was promoting old racists beliefs, that when black athletes become famous they hunt for white women. OH BOY! Tony, I respect you and all, but I think you are reading way too far into this ad.
American society is getting carried away w/ the morals issue. Things happen in life, but we don't always need to puff, pout and sue.
On a side note, the other night the local news reported that 4 children were hurt when a horse got spooked, slipped on the asphalt he was standing on and fell on the kids. The parents of various children from the school are now outraged and are demanding that these type of things shouldn't be allowed to happen. The school board chairman was stating in an interview "What should we do? Put a barrier around a horse? The kids are gonna want to pet that horse."
I do understand the concern for a child's well being, but are we gonna get to the point that the only equipment that can exist in a children's playground is a padded fence. Accidents happen, but it is becoming a problem, in my mind, where everybody wants to blame somebody. Live life, or you'll lose it.
what sucks? I'll tell you, I have 2 teams in a fantasy football on yahoo sports. One team is my major focus, the other was just so our leagues had an even amount of players so we could get the draft started. Anyhow, my good team, My Twins, yeah its cheesy and I know this. They were playing my sucky team, Pro Time, which had an awful record of 1-8. So this week, when they met each other for the first time this season, I didn't think that my crappy team would outscore me. Talk about pour shame.
What craziness is this? I read today that K-mart is going to buy Sears. Now wasn't it just like a couple of years ago, that they were shutting down K-mart stores around the country because they were bankrupt. Well a round of applause for those folks, getting there act together. Now that they have all this money to be buying up Sears and its associated stores, maybe they can clean up their St. Pete store off of MLK. It's better thank going to wal-mart as far as dealing w/ large amounts of people, but the place is just dirty, like a Winn Dixie.
It really becomes scary, when it seemed like only a few months ago, I was sharing the news that we are gonna have twin boys. Now that we have an apartment full of stuff that is not meant for us, it has become apparent that the expected date for the boys' arrival is near. How near? Like if we go w/ what the doctors say, they could show up for Thanksgiving. Of course we are hoping they chill until sometime in December, but that is totally up to them on what they choose to do. The grandparents are on full alert and holding. Over the weekend we stopped by my mom's place in Ocala and she was working hard to get the last two blankets finished.
My friend Jessica had her baby last week. Hunter was born a good healthy size and I'm sure Jessica is glad not to be carrying him around anymore. It also brought home the fact even more that our time was fast approaching. We again still super excited, just like kids waiting for Christmas.
And to prove that we have the kids best intentions at heart we traded in the lovely G35 coupe in for a Chrysler Town & Country minivan. The car was beautiful, but it wouldn't have been any fun sitting 6 inches from the steering wheel just to tote the boys around. Plus that car is damned expensive! So yeah, we join the ranks of many parents w/ their "soccer mom" minivans to tote their youngsters around. The experience of getting rid of that car sucked, because it once again showed how much car dealers suck ass. Every dealer we went to said the car isn't worth anything, but then a minivan w/ high mileage is worth only a few grand less. And I'm talking to you mr. honda odyssey pusher.
Shawana and I love the Honda Odyssey, but they want way too much for them. Even a 2001 w/ over 60K miles is still over 20 grand. And then they want to say that a 2004 G35 is only worth a few grand more. Shame, shame mr. car dealer on crack. But we finally worked a deal that was somewhat reasonable for a 2005 model Chrysler. I can't wait to get one of those magnetic soccer balls and throw it on the van.
I think of this blog as my personal space. If I don't like somebody I'll say it right here. If I threw up from too much pepper jack cheese, I might spread the word here also. So its sucks that yet again, advertisers of cheap drugs keep trying to post to my old entries, comments about where you can buy medicine for dirt cheap. The last attempt this morning, this guy even added a little story of how his mother was sick and she needs to find medicine quick. All of this while he puts buy cheap medicine here as his author name.
This ain't WebMD asses, sell your crap to people who really want that stuff.
The elections are over. America's show of a democratic society can go back to the little corner it was hiding in. Well you say that is nothing too spectacular. But wait, you forget that we no longer have to listen to crappy ads approved by rotten politicians. The sheer amount of money spent on "false advertising" is staggering. And then you add in the degrading value of how low they took their ads this year. Like Mel Martinez straight out accusing Castor of being a terrorist supporter.
I woke up this morning to learn that the vote counting continues on. Bush currently has a slim 2 vote lead against Kerry. The provisional votes in Ohio would have to be pretty well stacked towards Kerry for him to take a lead in Ohio's popular vote count.
Maybe miracles but happen, but it looks like I have awoken to 4 more years of the Bush Regime. My only concern is that there will be an America, strong enough to survive the world, when my boys become of age. I would really like to see how things work out for small business owners. I'm getting tired of working for somebody else. Its time to start my own business. I don't exactly have a plan for what the business will do, but I'm gonna start one. The appeal of working on my own terms is what I'm talking about.
I still wasn't impressed by the Nader voters. Its a great thing that an independent can raise money and participate in the vote. Its a definite neccessity that maybe someday will pan out and produce a president. But for now, the masses only believe in what has worked for so many years.
So continue on America, and word to my brother Hashani in Iraq. Make it home safely.
Sitting here watching the election news is driving me crazy. Its all a bunch of educated guessing as to who will win the states votes. Bush or Kerry, either way I don't like either men. Both seem to be scheming devils but one has to win. I laid my vote for Kerry and now I feel like my vote means nothing. They say the numbers of voters registered and active this year are going to be more than 2004, but the results still seem the same. Florida has a huge collection of Republicans, not that there aren't a significant number of democrats around, just that the republicans are more likely to vote.
And even worse now, is the reports that all the voting precints have had lines around the block. Ohio is talking about a 5 hour wait. Oh well back to CNN. Go Kerry/Edwards!
